What is the minimum charter period and how are the rates calculated?
The minimum charter period is 1 week. The rated are calculated per week depending the period, eg if you want to charter our yacht in July you will get a different price than chartering in May. Take a look at our pricelist.
How do I book and pay for a yacht on Mediterra Yachts?
You can book your yacht directly online via Paypal or with bank deposit. We get in contact with you via phone or email. We send you the payment details. You pay 50% with the booking. 8 weeks before embarkation you pay the outstanding 50% plus additional extras if added.
What are the payment terms for a charter?
50% downpayment within 3 days from booking confirmation
50% final payment 45 days prior to departure
If payments are not made within the above days, booking will be cancelled

40% of the charter rate if the booking is cancelled
up to 45 days prior to departure
100% of the charter rate if the booking is cancelled

What time of year should I plan my trip?
The best season for you to plan your sailing trip in the Ionian islands of Greece, is from May till October when the weather is warm. It’s up to you, we can surely help you with some suggested charter locations.
What equipment will I need?
This question depends on where you are going, for how long, and who you are travelling with. If you want to know more about what equipment you’ll need don’t hesitate to contact us for more informations on the matter.
What additional costs can I expect?
You should take into account arrival and departure, deposits, insurance as well as food and beverages. Costs may also arise in the following areas: Crew and staff, cleaning, extra excursions, visas, fuel, taxes, and additional fees at the port such as parking fees, disposal costs and the rental of extra equipment.
Where shall I leave my car whilst I am sailing?
The marinas that we cooperate all have parking facilities. Depending on your embarkation spot you will have the opportunity to park not far away from the yacht.
What happens in the case of an accident?
Immediately call the emergency services (hellenic coast guard: 108, police: 100), also inform us about the emergency and we will assist you on the spot.
Will I need a Visa?
If you are an EU citizen you do not need a visa to travel within the European Union, otherwise you should check with your country’s office responsible for tourism.
How do I cure seasickness?
This unpleasant experience can be prevented and treated. In the pharmacy medical kit inside our yachts you will find what you need to prevent sea sickness or to cure it. Read more.
Can I take pets on board?
You are not allowed to take pets with you on board. We’re sorry!
How much does it cost to hire a skipper?
The cost of a hiring a skipper to take responsibility for the boat depends on the chartering period, usually the cost is €200/day. You can also have on board a host/hostess/chef with extra charge, just ask us!
What happens at handover?
Upon arrival you will go to the marina’a office where one of our representatives will then escort you to your boat. They will explain important rules and procedures regarding the power supply and the fuel and wastewater tanks.
What to choose: a harbor or a place to anchor?
The harbor is the most secure place, so that you can spend the night or take a break from sailing. At harbors you can find water, cleaning, mending, waste disposal and tank filling services. Anchorage is a maneuver where you drop anchor just to check a scenery or to avoid bad weather.

Do I need a licence to charter a boat?
Throughout European countries a sailing licence such as the International certificate of Competence (ICC) or equivalent is required for bareboat charters – particularly in Croatia and Greece where the laws are very strict regarding bareboat sailing. these requirements please read our information regarding licensing.
You will need at least one member of the crew hold a recognised skipper’s license. Ideally there should also be a co-skipper with similar experience or at least you may be asked to sign a declaration that you have a sailing experience. If you do not have the qualifications or experience, or lack confidence you can request a skipper for you charter. Back to top
What do I need to bring with me?
Each yacht comes fully equipped with navigational instruments, safety equipment including life-vests, charts and marine information, cooking utensils and of course bed linen and hand-towels are provided. All you really need to bring are your personal clothes and items, which should include some water/wind proof anoraks, trousers and shoes, plus sun hats and sunglasses, sun cream and a camera!
What is check in process?
It is the process we deliver the yacht to you. Embarkation time: 17.00’. The skipper and the co-skipper will follow the check in process with our staff, following the list of equipment of ship. The rest of the crew will and your baggages should not be on board during the check in. We notice that check-in becomes only during the daylight.
What is check out process?
It is the process you deliver the yacht to us .Disembarkation time 09.00’. The yacht should return in the base the night before the ending date, one hour before sunset, except if another time is pre-arranged with us. For possible delays, at the return of the yacht, you have to inform us immediately, because we have to prepare the yacht for next charter. Program your cruise so that you can return in time.
